About the Import Process
Once you have purchased a Shiba Inu puppy from our kennel in Japan, you will need to either visit Japan to pick up your puppy in person or arrange import to the United States.
Our kennel provides full support for importing Japanese Shiba Inu puppies to the U.S., including document preparation, veterinary care, and shipping arrangements.
This page explains the requirements, procedures, and estimated costs for bringing a Shiba Inu puppy from Japan into the United States.
First, please contact us to find the perfect puppy that matches your preferences.
We handle most of the paperwork and veterinary procedures necessary for export from Japan; however, there are some forms that must be completed by the buyer.
Please note that import conditions may change without notice, so we recommend confirming the latest requirements and planning ahead to ensure a smooth process.
Both federal and state-level regulations apply in the United States, and you must also check the requirements of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Export Schedule After Puppy Purchase
After you select and purchase your Shiba Inu puppy, we begin export preparation immediately.
We will provide a detailed schedule including vaccinations, microchip implantation, and health checks.
According to U.S. import regulations, puppies must be at least six months old before entry.
Once all required procedures and age conditions are met, export arrangements will begin.
During this period, we will send you regular photo updates so you can watch your puppy grow while waiting for their arrival.
Upon arrival, you must personally pick up your puppy at the airport.
Alternatively, you may visit Japan and enter the U.S. together with your dog.

Estimated Costs for Import from Japan to the United States
In addition to the puppy’s price, there are export-related fees.
Below is an example of estimated costs:

(Includes air freight, travel to Narita Airport, crate, and water bottle) -
Treatment Fee: ¥47,000
(Includes rabies and combination vaccines, microchip, certificates, and handling fees) -
Care fee (500 yen per day × 150 days): ¥75,000
