About the Import Process

Once you have purchased a Shiba Inu puppy from our kennel in Japan, you will need to either visit Japan to pick up your puppy in person or arrange export from Japan to the Republic of Singapore.
Our kennel specializes in international Shiba Inu export, including complete support for shipments to Singapore, and we assist with all required procedures—veterinary treatments, documentation, and transportation arrangements.

This page provides a clear overview of the import requirements, procedure flow, and estimated costs for bringing a Japanese Shiba Inu puppy into Singapore.

First, please contact our kennel so we can help you select the puppy that best fits your preferences

We handle the required veterinary treatments and most export documents in Japan. However, some applications must be completed by the buyer.
Please note that Singapore’s import regulations may change without warning, so we advise you to confirm the latest requirements and plan your import schedule with sufficient time.

Required Treatments and Procedures for Importing a Shiba Inu into Singapore

🇯🇵 Procedures Required in Japan (Before Export):

  • Microchip implantation (ISO 11784/11785 compliant)

  • Core vaccinations (Distemper, Adenovirus Type 1, Parvovirus)

  • Rabies vaccination (inactivated or recombinant vaccine)

  • Rabies antibody titer test (0.5 IU/ml or above)

  • Health check and issuance of an official health certificate

  • External parasite treatment

  • Internal parasite treatment

  • Preparation and submission of export inspection documents

  • Support for inspection and issuance of official veterinary certificates

  • Application for the rabies antibody test and related procedures

  • Pedigree registration and issuance

  • Support for the Captain’s Declaration required by airlines
     

All veterinary procedures and export documents (including quarantine certificates) are fully handled by our kennel.
An official pedigree certificate will also be issued, allowing you to begin your new life in Singapore with complete peace of mind.

🇸🇬 Procedures Required in Singapore (Upon Import)

The following procedures must be completed by the importer (buyer).
Our kennel provides guidance and support for each process:

  • Application and approval of the Import Permit

  • Application and approval of the Dog Licence

  • Arrival Notification: Online notification at least 5 working days prior to arrival

  • Veterinary inspection upon arrival in Singapore

Export Schedule After Puppy Purchase

Once you have selected and purchased your Shiba Inu puppy, we begin preparing for export immediately.

We will provide a detailed schedule, including:

Rabies vaccination

Core vaccinations

Microchip implantation

Rabies antibody titer test

Health examinations

Due to Singapore’s import regulations, the earliest export timing is around 6.5 months of age.
 

During this period, we will send regular photo updates, allowing you to follow your puppy’s growth while waiting for their arrival.

Quarantine Requirements Upon Arrival

Depending on the situation, one of the following may apply:

  • No quarantine, if all pre-arrival conditions are satisfied

  • 10-day Home Quarantine, if applicable under Singapore’s regulations

  • Quarantine at the Animal Quarantine Centre, if classified as a commercial import

Pickup at Arrival

You must personally pick up your puppy at the airport in Singapore.
(Alternatively, you may visit Japan and travel together with your puppy.)

Estimated Cost for Importing a Shiba Inu into Singapore

In addition to the puppy’s price, export-related fees will be required.
Below is an example of estimated costs:

  • Transportation Fee: ¥353,000
    (Includes air freight, travel to Narita Airport, travel fee, IATA-approved crate, water bottle, and food dish)

  • Treatment Fee: ¥93,000
    (Includes rabies vaccination, combined vaccines, microchip, rabies antibody test, certificate issuance, and handling fees)

  • Total: ¥446,000
    (Excluding the puppy price)

     

Note: Costs may vary depending on the airline, exchange rates, and season.

All prices are listed in Japanese yen (¥), which is Japan’s official currency. The exchange rate between Japanese yen (JPY) and Singapore dollars (SGD) fluctuates regularly.

Additional fees may apply if quarantine facilities are required.
